Buying a used cars can really be a herculean task especially in a country with a bad maintenance culture. Here are easy steps to buying used cars.
1. Research: There are different cars out there with different performance. The research will help one know what he can afford.

a. Customers review and complains on the car
b. Price of the car, for used cars ( you can check on jiji) and a new one.
c. Check repair/ maintenance record: Some vehicles might look good and very comfortable but the cost of maintenance can drive you back to your village. So before committing yourself to a journey back to the village, check for the prices of the spare parts and maintenance of the car and see if it is something you can afford.
2. Go for an inspection: Go along with a trusted automechanic. Make sure you check the following;
a. The performance of the vehicle
b. Dashboard lights: make sure the automechanic comes along with his scan tool.
c. The body and the chassis for traces of accident.
d. Ask for history of that particular car and its condition.
3. Test drive the car.
